Diseñado por Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt y concluido en 1723 como residencia estival ceremonial del príncipe Eugenio de Saboya, el Upper Belvedere domina unos jardines barrocos que descienden hacia el Lower Belvedere. En la actualidad, acoge la exposición de la colección del Belvedere, titulada «Picture this!», que abarca desde Cranach hasta Maria Lassnig. Entre sus obras maestras destacan El beso de Gustav Klimt, creaciones de Egon Schiele y las Cabezas de carácter de Franz Xaver Messerschmidt. La Carlone Hall del palacio también presenta diversas instalaciones de arte contemporáneo de forma temporal.
