El Museo de América alberga una de las colecciones más importantes del mundo dedicadas a los pueblos y culturas del continente americano, desde el Paleolítico hasta nuestros días. Inaugurado en su sede actual de Moncloa en 1965, recorre la arqueología prehispánica, el arte virreinal y la etnografía indígena a través de salas estructuradas en torno al conocimiento, la sociedad, la religión y la comunicación. Entre sus obras maestras destacan la orfebrería inca, el Tesoro de los Quimbayas, el Códice Tudela y una célebre serie de pinturas de castas.
