Der 1883 vom Architekten Ricardo Velázquez Bosco für die Nationale Bergbauausstellung errichtete Pavillon aus Eisen und Glas ist der einzige erhaltene Bau der damaligen Schau. Unweit des Sees im Retiro-Park gelegen, dient das Gebäude heute als Außenstelle des Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía für großformatige Wechselausstellungen zeitgenössischer Kunst bei freiem Eintritt. Mit seinem neoklassizistischen Ziegelmauerwerk, den verglasten Gewölben und dem Keramikdekor aus der Werkstatt von Daniel Zuloaga ist das Bauwerk selbst ebenso sehenswert wie die darin gezeigte Kunst.
