Das Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas residiert seit 1932 in einem ehemaligen Stadtpalais in der Calle Montalbán und zeichnet in rund 60 Räumen auf fünf Etagen die Entwicklung des europäischen und asiatischen Kunsthandwerks vom 16. bis zum 20. Jahrhundert nach. Zu den Höhepunkten zählt eine originalgetreu rekonstruierte valencianische Küche aus dem 18. Jahrhundert mit über 1.500 handbemalten Kacheln, ergänzt durch historische Wohnräume, die das aristokratische Leben vergangener Epochen heraufbeschwören. Die Sammlung umfasst Möbel, Keramik, Glas, Textilien sowie herausragende ostasiatische Exponate aus China und Japan. Gegründet 1912 als Museum für industrielle Künste, gilt es bis heute als eine der beschaulicheren Institutionen im Goldenen Dreieck der Kunst – nur wenige Schritte vom Prado und den Gärten des Retiro entfernt.
