Das 2006 direkt an der Spree gegenüber dem Berliner Dom eröffnete DDR Museum veranschaulicht das Alltagsleben in der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik anhand interaktiver Exponate, die ausdrücklich zum Anfassen gedacht sind. Auf 1.000 m² Ausstellungsfläche beleuchtet es Themen wie Schule, Arbeit, Urlaub, Konsum, Ideologie, Mauer und Stasi. Zu den Höhepunkten gehören eine Fahrsimulation im Trabant P601 sowie eine komplett eingerichtete WBS-70-Plattenbauwohnung. Sämtliche Texte sind auf Deutsch und Englisch verfasst.
