Austriackie narodowe muzeum teatru mieści się w Palais Lobkowitz, barokowym pałacu z lat 90. XVII wieku. To w tutejszej sali balowej – Eroica Hall – odbyły się pierwsze wykonania III Symfonii Beethovena. Należąca do stowarzyszenia muzeów KHM instytucja gromadzi ponad dwa miliony obiektów: makiety scenograficzne, kostiumy, rysunki, fotografie oraz lalki teatralne, w tym słynne marionetki Richard Teschner – Figurenspiegel. Jedną z pereł kolekcji jest obraz Gustava Klimta „Nuda Veritas” (1899). Od sierpnia 2025 roku muzeum jest zamknięte z powodu remontu.
