Założone w 1986 roku przez malarza i kolekcjonera Hansa Pels-Leusdena muzeum poświęcone jest twórczości Käthe Kollwitz: autoportretom, cyklom graficznym, rysunkom, plakatom i rzeźbom z brązu. W 2022 roku instytucja przeniosła się ze swojej willi przy Fasanenstraße do Theaterbau przy Schloss Charlottenburg, gdzie na pierwszym piętrze eksponowanych jest około 100 dzieł. Wystawy czasowe ukazują dorobek Kollwitz w dialogu z jej współczesnymi oraz artystami tworzącymi dzisiaj.
