Il National Museum of Asian Art dello Smithsonian riunisce due edifici comunicanti sul National Mall: la Freer Gallery of Art, inaugurata nel 1923 in un palazzo in granito rosa d'ispirazione rinascimentale italiana progettato da Charles A. Platt, e la Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, aperta nel 1987 e accessibile tramite un passaggio sotterraneo.
