Inaugurato nel 1963, il Museu Picasso conserva oltre 4.000 opere di Pablo Picasso e ripercorre il legame duraturo dell’artista con Barcellona, dove trascorse gli anni decisivi dell’adolescenza. La collezione è particolarmente ricca di opere giovanili, tra cui il dipinto accademico Science and Charity (1897), e comprende la serie Las Meninas del 1957, donata dallo stesso Picasso. Il museo occupa cinque palazzi medievali contigui in Carrer Montcada, nel quartiere de La Ribera.
