Diseñada en 1963 por Philip Johnson junto a Richard Foster como residencia de David y Carmen Kreeger, esta villa revestida de travertino, estructurada en cubos con bóvedas de arista y cúpulas, abrió sus puertas como museo en 1994. La colección abarca desde la década de 1850 hasta la actualidad: reúne nueve lienzos de Claude Monet, una selección de obras de Picasso que recorre toda su trayectoria y piezas de Renoir, Sisley, Pissarro, Degas, Cezanne, Munch, Kandinsky, Chagall y Miro, además de creadores vinculados a Washington como Sam Gilliam, Gene Davis y Thomas Downing. En el exterior, la Sculpture Terrace y el Sculpture Garden se extienden por más de dos hectáreas de bosque con esculturas de Henry Moore, Isamu Noguchi, Jean Arp, Aristide Maillol, Jacques Lipchitz y George Rickey.
