Kansong Art Museum

Fundado en 1938 con el nombre de Bohwagak por el coleccionista Jeon Hyeong-pil (seudónimo: Kansong), fue el primer museo de arte privado de Corea. El edificio, obra del pionero de la arquitectura moderna Park Gil-ryong, se construyó para proteger los tesoros nacionales del saqueo durante la época colonial japonesa. Entre ellos figuran un jarrón de celadón adquirido por el precio de veinte casas con tejado de tejas y el manuscrito Hunminjeongeum. Hoy, gestionado por la Kansong Art and Culture Foundation, el museo sigue abriendo al público únicamente para dos exposiciones de pago al año. Cada una reúne piezas de su colección, que incluye doce Tesoros Nacionales y decenas de otros Tesoros, con obras de celadón de Goryeo, pintura y caligrafía de Joseon y escultura budista.

Open to the public only during two annual exhibition periods: a spring show (late April-early May) and an autumn show (late September-early October), each running roughly 6-8 weeks. During an exhibition the museum opens Tuesday-Sunday 10:00-18:00, closed Mondays, by advance online reservation only via kansong.org. Outside these exhibition windows the museum is closed to visitors. As of 24 September 2026 no autumn 2026 exhibition dates had been announced yet.
