El Musée Gustave Moreau ocupa la casa parisina donde vivió y trabajó el pintor simbolista Gustave Moreau (1826-1898), y que él mismo transformó en sus últimos años en un museo dedicado a su propia obra. La planta baja y el primer piso conservan sus aposentos íntimos, mientras que dos amplios estudios en la última planta, unidos por una espectacular escalera de caracol de hierro forjado, están dispuestos al estilo salón con cientos de pinturas, acuarelas y dibujos. La colección reúne alrededor de 1.200 pinturas y unos 4.800 dibujos, muchos de ellos bocetos y obras inacabadas guardadas en vitrinas diseñadas por el propio artista. Abierto al público en 1903, su distribución apenas ha cambiado desde entonces.
