Το National Hangeul Museum άνοιξε το 2014, δίπλα στο Εθνικό Μουσείο της Κορέας, στο Γιονγκσάν. Μέσα από την καλλιγραφία, ιστορικά χειρόγραφα και διαδραστικές αίθουσες, αφηγείται την ιστορία του Χανγκίλ —του κορεατικού συστήματος γραφής που επινόησε ο βασιλιάς Σετζόνγκ ο Μέγας το 1443. Η συλλογή του, με περίπου 90.000 αντικείμενα, καλύπτει την επινόηση του αλφαβήτου, την καταστολή του κατά την αποικιοκρατία και τη σύγχρονη παγκόσμια διάδοσή του. Περιλαμβάνει επίσης ξεχωριστό Παιδικό Μουσείο και Κέντρο Εκμάθησης Χανγκίλ. Πυρκαγιά που ξέσπασε κατά τη διάρκεια εργασιών επέκτασης στις 1 Φεβρουαρίου 2025 προκάλεσε σοβαρές ζημιές στο κτίριο. Το μουσείο παραμένει πλέον κλειστό για επισκευές στον φέροντα οργανισμό και εργασίες επέκτασης, ενώ προγραμματίζεται να επαναλειτουργήσει τον Οκτώβριο του 2028. Στο μεταξύ, οι εκθέσεις και τα εκπαιδευτικά προγράμματα συνεχίζονται σε συνεργαζόμενους χώρους σε όλη τη Σεούλ.
