Στεγασμένο στο Hôtel Carnavalet και το παρακείμενο Hôtel Le Peletier de Saint Fargeau, αποτελεί το παλαιότερο δημοτικό μουσείο της πόλης του Παρισιού. Λειτουργεί από το 1880 και αναγεννήθηκε πλήρως μετά από μια εκτεταμένη ανακαίνιση την περίοδο 2016–2021.
