Χτισμένο το 1887 ως θερμοκήπιο για εξωτικά φυτά από τις Φιλιππίνες, το Palacio de Cristal είναι ένα γυάλινο κτίσμα σε κάτοψη ελληνικού σταυρού από σίδηρο και γυαλί, θεμελιωμένο σε πλίνθινη βάση με κεραμικά πλακίδια, με τον τρούλο του να δεσπόζει σε ύψος άνω των 22 μέτρων πάνω από μια λίμνη στο Retiro Park. Υπάγεται στο Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía ως ένας από τους εκθεσιακούς του χώρους, με ελεύθερη είσοδο. Το εσωτερικό παραμένει κλειστό για εργασίες αποκατάστασης έως το 2027· στο μεταξύ, μια εικαστική εγκατάσταση περιβάλλει το εξωτερικό του, ενώ το κτίριο κλείνει σε περίπτωση κακοκαιρίας.
