Robert Mallet-Stevens built only one industrial building outside France: a liqueur and brandy factory in Mecidiyeköy, under construction from 1930. It was demolished in 2012 and rebuilt to its original design in 2018.

It is one of the factories in this display on the third floor of Salt Galata, compiled from the Salt Research archives. You follow factory building in Turkey in three waves. First the state: from the 1930s Sümerbank built textile complexes in Kayseri, Nazilli and Ereğli, laid out like small cities with workers' housing, hospitals and schools. From the 1950s private companies hired architects, among them Tekeli and Sisa for the Oyak-Renault plant in Bursa and Aydın Boysan for Arçelik's Çayırova factory. From the 1970s came specialists such as Cengiz Bektaş, whose Denizli factories kept a human scale. Many were shut or repurposed after the privatisations of the 1990s.

Salt made it in parallel with No Admittance Except on Business, in the same building, so see both. Admission is free, Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00.
