Η Μεγάλη Σφίγγα, λαξευμένη απευθείας στον φυσικό βράχο με σώμα λιονταριού και κεφάλι ανθρώπου, φυλάει την ανατολική πρόσβαση. Γύρω από τις κύριες πυραμίδες βρίσκονται μικρότερες πυραμίδες βασιλισσών, τάφοι-μαστάμπες ευγενών, νεκρικοί και κοιλαδικοί ναοί, ανηφορικοί δρόμοι πρόσβασης και τα απομεινάρια ενός οικισμού εργατών.
