Το Museum für Fotografie εγκαινιάστηκε το 2004 στο νεοκλασικό κτίριο της πρώην λέσχης αξιωματικών της Landwehr (1909), απέναντι από τον σταθμό Bahnhof Zoo, και στεγάζει από κοινού το Helmut Newton Foundation και τη Φωτογραφική Συλλογή της Kunstbibliothek (Staatliche Museen zu Berlin). Το Newton Foundation καταλαμβάνει το ισόγειο και τον πρώτο όροφο με περιοδικές εκθέσεις αφιερωμένες στον Helmut Newton και την Alice Springs, ενώ η Kunstbibliothek παρουσιάζει εκθέσεις από τις συλλογές της στους επάνω ορόφους, στην αποκατεστημένη αίθουσα Kaisersaal.
