Das Haus der Musik wurde im Jahr 2000 als Österreichs erstes Klang- und Musikmuseum im Palais Erzherzog Carl eröffnet – an jenem historischen Ort, an dem Otto Nicolai lebte, als er 1842 die Wiener Philharmoniker gründete. Vier Etagen führen vom Archiv und Museum des Orchesters über das interaktive Klanglabor Sonotopia bis hin zu Schauräumen, die Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Strauss und Mahler gewidmet sind. Im oberen Stockwerk können Sie als virtueller Dirigent selbst den Taktstock ergreifen und die Wiener Philharmoniker auf einer Großleinwand leiten.
