Das Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum befindet sich in der 2009 fertiggestellten Rekonstruktion des ersten Bürogebäudes Japans im westlichen Stil. Der ursprüngliche Bau wurde von dem britischen Architekten Josiah Conder entworfen, 1894 fertiggestellt und 1968 abgerissen. Nach seiner Wiedereröffnung im Jahr 2010 – und erneut im November 2024 nach einer längeren Schließung für Instandhaltungsarbeiten – verfügt das Museum über keine Galerien für eine ständige Sammlung. Stattdessen zeigt es wechselnde Sonderausstellungen zur westlichen Kunst des 19. und frühen 20. Jahrhunderts. Dafür greift es auf eigene Bestände mit Werken von Toulouse-Lautrec und Odilon Redon sowie auf bedeutende internationale Leihgaben zurück. Das historische Café 1894 in der ehemaligen Schalterhalle des Gebäudes ist ein Anziehungspunkt für sich.
