Das 1863 von König Luís gegründete Museu de Marinha ist seit 1962 im Komplex des Mosteiro dos Jerónimos untergebracht und erzählt die Geschichte Portugals und seiner Beziehung zum Meer – anhand der Marine, der Handels- und Fischereischifffahrt sowie der Freizeitschifffahrt. Rund 2.500 der mehr als 18.000 Objekte sind zu sehen: von Schiffsmodellen und Navigationsinstrumenten aus der Zeit der Entdeckungen bis zu den königlichen Kabinen der Yacht Amélia. Im weitläufigen Galeotas Pavilion befinden sich königliche Prunkbarken aus dem 18. Jahrhundert, traditionelle Boote und das Wasserflugzeug Santa Cruz, das 1922 die erste Überquerung des Südatlantiks auf dem Luftweg vollendete.
