Das Museu Marítim de Barcelona befindet sich in den Drassanes Reials, den mittelalterlichen Königlichen Werften, deren Bau im 13. Jahrhundert begann. Sie gelten als die größten und am vollständigsten erhaltenen mittelalterlichen Werften weltweit. Unter ihren gotischen Bögen erzählen die Dauerausstellungen von den Galeeren des Mittelmeers, einem im 14. Jahrhundert gesunkenen Handelsschiff und drei Jahrhunderten katalanischer Seefahrt. Im Mittelpunkt steht eine maßstabsgetreue Replik der Königlichen Galeere. Ergänzt wird das Angebot durch ein Programm wechselnder Ausstellungen, von denen mehrere in der Eingangshalle und im Mirador kostenlos zu sehen sind.
