Założone w 1870 roku Museum of Fine Arts (MFA), od 1909 roku mieszczące się w zaprojektowanym przez Guya Lowella gmachu przy Huntington Avenue, kryje w swych zbiorach ponad 450 000 obiektów – od starożytności po współczesność. Otwarte w 2010 roku skrzydło Art of the Americas Wing prezentuje na czterech kondygnacjach malarstwo, rzeźbę i rzemiosło artystyczne: od prekolumbijskiego złota po dzieła Copleya, Sargenta i O'Keeffe. Dział sztuki azjatyckiej, liczący ponad 115 000 eksponatów, szczyci się najbogatszym i najcenniejszym zbiorem sztuki japońskiej poza Japonią, z kolei sale poświęcone sztuce egipskiej i nubijskiej czerpią z własnych wykopalisk prowadzonych przez muzeum w Gizie. W czwartkowe i piątkowe wieczory muzeum jest otwarte do godziny 22:00, a w każdy trzeci czwartek miesiąca od 17:00 obowiązuje wstęp w formule „płacisz, ile chcesz” (pay-what-you-wish).

The Huntington Avenue main entrance has ramps on either side of the stairs and power-assist doors; the Linde Family Wing entrance on Museum Road offers a level entrance for visitors who need one. Wheelchairs and gallery stools available to borrow free. Service dogs welcome. The State Street Corporation Fenway Entrance is currently closed.
