Il Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum occupa la ricostruzione, realizzata nel 2009, del primo edificio per uffici in stile occidentale del Giappone, progettato originariamente dall’architetto britannico Josiah Conder e completato nel 1894, per poi essere demolito nel 1968. Riaperto nel 2010 e nuovamente nel novembre 2024, dopo una lunga chiusura per lavori di manutenzione, il museo non dispone di gallerie dedicate alla collezione permanente: propone invece mostre temporanee a rotazione sull’arte occidentale dell’Ottocento e dei primi anni del Novecento, attingendo ai propri nuclei di opere di Toulouse-Lautrec e Odilon Redon e a importanti prestiti internazionali. Lo storico Café 1894, ricavato nell’antico salone bancario dell’edificio, è una meta a sé stante.
