Il Musée Gustave Moreau occupa la casa parigina dove il pittore simbolista Gustave Moreau (1826-1898) visse e lavorò, e che negli ultimi anni della sua vita trasformò in un museo dedicato alla propria arte. Il piano terra e il primo piano conservano i suoi appartamenti privati, mentre due vasti atelier all'ultimo piano, collegati da una scenografica scala a chiocciola in ferro battuto, sono allestiti secondo lo stile 'salon', con centinaia di dipinti, acquerelli e disegni. La collezione conta circa 1.200 dipinti e circa 4.800 disegni, molti dei quali bozzetti e opere incompiute custodite in armadi appositamente progettati dall'artista stesso. Aperto al pubblico nel 1903, il suo allestimento è rimasto quasi immutato da allora.
