Il Musée Cognacq-Jay occupa l'Hôtel de Donon, una dimora del XVI secolo nel cuore del Marais. Le sue sale intime e rivestite di boiserie ricreano un interno settecentesco, colmo delle opere che i fondatori dei grandi magazzini Ernest Cognacq e Marie-Louise Jaÿ raccolsero tra il 1900 e il 1925. Tra i punti salienti figurano dipinti di Boucher, Fragonard e Chardin, pastelli di Maurice-Quentin de La Tour, sculture, porcellane di Saxe, tabacchiere e mobili con marchio d'ebanista. L'ingresso alla collezione permanente è gratuito.
