Inaugurato nel 2006 lungo la Spree, proprio di fronte al Berliner Dom, il DDR Museum racconta la vita di tutti i giorni nella Repubblica Democratica Tedesca attraverso installazioni interattive pensate per essere toccate con mano. Il percorso espositivo di 1.000 m² spazia tra scuola, lavoro, vacanze, consumi, ideologia, Muro e Stasi; tra le attrazioni principali spiccano un simulatore di guida a bordo di una Trabant P601 e un appartamento WBS 70 interamente arredato, tipico dei grandi complessi residenziali dell'epoca. Tutti i testi di sala sono disponibili in tedesco e in inglese.
