MACBA, שנפתח ב־1995 בבניין שתכנן האדריכל האמריקאי Richard Meier, הוא המוזיאון המרכזי לאמנות עכשווית בברצלונה. האוסף שלו מתמקד במחצית השנייה של המאה ה־20 ובאמנות בת זמננו, וכולל גם את Rafael Tous Fond לאמנות מושגית. תוכנית התערוכות משלבת תצוגות מתחלפות מן האוסף עם תערוכות יחיד זמניות, קולנוע ואמנות קולית, ונסמכת על מרכז מחקר, ספרייה וארכיון ב־Convent dels Àngels הסמוך. עבודות ההרחבה ב־Plaça dels Àngels יימשכו עד פברואר 2027, אך המוזיאון יישאר פתוח והכניסה אליו תתקיים כרגיל.
