iBerlinische GalerieKreuzberg
A video programme by Creamcake exploring how the real and the invented bleed into each other, with work from four artists on power, identity and institutional critique.
Aurrebista: erakusketa ireki aurretik idatzia
Teresa Barnwell spent the last days before the 2016 US election working as a Hillary Clinton impersonator, and Simone C Niquille's camera followed her. That film is one of four the Berlin platform Creamcake brings to the IBB Video Space for its 3hd festival. Each sets one person, real or invented, against the state, the crowd, the camera or the institution.
You sit through four short works, 73 minutes in all. In Sara Sadik's Ultimate Vatos (23 min.), Zabuza is trained to become the "ultimate man" in a fictional military programme. Vika Kirchenbauer's This Suffocating Now (16 min.), made this year, sets her experience of medical gender discrimination against protest and archive footage. Simona Andrioletti re-filmed her found footage off a computer monitor with a smartphone, so the watching becomes part of the work.
Entry is the museum ticket: €14 (€7 reduced, free under 18), €7 for all on the first Wednesday. The programme also streams online via 3hdTV. The opening is on 29 October at 6pm. Closed Tuesdays.
The Hillary Clinton impersonator
In The Fragility of Life (24 min.), Teresa Barnwell plays Hillary Clinton in the final days before the 2016 election, a study of who owns a face.
Zabuza's training
Sara Sadik's Ultimate Vatos (23 min.) follows Zabuza through isolation, surveillance and physical tests in a fictional military programme, with his own voice-over exposing the fear underneath.
This Suffocating Now
Vika Kirchenbauer's 2026 video (16 min.) cuts her own footage from protests and daily life with archive material, drawing parallels to the years before 1933.
A screen filmed off a screen
Simona Andrioletti's Defence (10 min.) is a found-footage collage of people trying and failing to defend themselves, re-filmed with a smartphone pointed at a monitor.
Under-18s get in free. The films deal with violence, surveillance, discrimination and fascism.
