Das 1961 unter dem Leitgedanken „Art in Life“ gegründete Suntory Museum of Art bewahrt rund 3.000 Werke japanischer Kunst, darunter Lackarbeiten, Keramik, Glas, gefärbte Textilien und Gemälde. Zur Sammlung gehören ein Nationalschatz sowie zahlreiche als Wichtige Kulturgüter und Wichtige Kunstobjekte eingestufte Werke. Seit 2007 befindet sich das Museum im dritten Stock der Tokyo Midtown Galleria in Roppongi in Räumen, die von Kengo Kuma entworfen wurden. Zuvor war es in Marunouchi und Akasaka beheimatet; nach einer Renovierung wurde es 2020 wiedereröffnet. Statt einer festen Dauerausstellung zeigt das Museum ein wechselndes Programm thematischer Sonderausstellungen mit Werken aus der eigenen Sammlung und Leihgaben.
