Das Lissabonner Wohnhaus des Unternehmers und Sammlers António de Medeiros e Almeida (1895-1986) wurde durch die von ihm 1972 gegründete Stiftung als Hausmuseum dem Staat vermacht. Der unveränderte Alte Flügel bewahrt die Räume des Ehepaars, während der Anfang der 1970er-Jahre über dem Garten errichtete Neue Flügel rund 2.000 Objekte in 27 Galerien präsentiert. Zu den Höhepunkten zählen eine Nachtuhr des 17. Jahrhunderts von Edward East, die einst Catherine of Braganza gehörte, eine frühe Ming-Kanne mit dem Wappen von König Manuel I., acht Landschaften von Jan van Goyen sowie Taschenuhren von Breguet.
