Das Museum of Science wurde 1830 als Boston Society of Natural History gegründet und 1951 direkt auf dem Charles River Dam neu errichtet. Heute zählt es zu den größten Wissenschaftsmuseen der USA. Mehr als 700 interaktive Exponate verteilen sich auf die Ausstellungsbereiche Blue Wing, Green Wing und Red Wing. Zu den Hauptattraktionen gehören das Theater of Electricity mit dem weltweit größten luftisolierten Van-de-Graaff-Generator sowie das Charles Hayden Planetarium mit seiner imposanten Kuppel. Die Fossiliengalerien vereinen das lebensgroße Modell eines Tyrannosaurus rex mit „Cliff“, einem nahezu vollständig erhaltenen, 65 Millionen Jahre alten Triceratops-Skelett aus den Dakota Badlands. Zudem ist das Museum eine akkreditierte zoologische Einrichtung und beherbergt über 100 lebende Tiere, darunter Lisztäffchen in der Hall of Human Life.
