Das MAAM ist das Lehrmuseum des Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Es wurde im Februar 2020 in den renovierten Bakalar and Paine galleries im vorderen Teil des Campus an der Huntington Avenue eröffnet. Das Haus versteht sich als Kunsthalle und besitzt keine eigene Sammlung; die Bakalar Gallery, die Stephen D. Paine Gallery und das Foyer werden daher mehrmals im Jahr mit Neuaufträgen und Einzelausstellungen komplett neu bespielt. Der Eintritt ist stets kostenlos und erfordert weder Ticket noch Voranmeldung. Der Eingang liegt direkt gegenüber der Haltestelle Longwood Medical Area der Green Line E, nur wenige Gehminuten vom Museum of Fine Arts entfernt. Zwischen den Ausstellungen bleibt das Haus für Aufbauarbeiten geschlossen – ein Blick auf den aktuellen Kalender vor dem Besuch empfiehlt sich daher.
