Fundada per Henry Clay i Emily Jordan Folger i inaugurada el 1932, la Folger acull la col·lecció de Shakespeare més gran del món: més de 250.000 llibres, uns 60.000 manuscrits i 82 exemplars del First Folio de 1623, més d'un terç de tots els que se sap que han sobreviscut.
