افتُتح Leopold Museum عام 2001، ونشأ انطلاقاً من المجموعة الفنية التي جمعها Rudolf and Elisabeth Leopold على مدار خمسة عقود، وتأسس بالتعاون مع Republic of Austria وOesterreichische Nationalbank. تضم مقتنياته أكثر من 5,000 عمل تركز على الفن النمساوي في النصف الأول من القرن العشرين، من حركة Secession وحتى التعبيرية. ويحتضن المتحف أكبر مجموعة لأعمال Egon Schiele في العالم بأكثر من 220 عملاً، إلى جانب لوحات محورية بريشة Gustav Klimt وOskar Kokoschka وRichard Gerstl. كما يضع العرض الدائم "Vienna 1900: ولادة الحداثة (Vienna 1900: Birth of Modernism)" هذه الروائع في سياق الأثاث والتصميم وأفكار تلك الحقبة.
