يقع المبنى الرئيسي Seosomun التابع لـ Seoul Museum of Art خلف قصر Deoksugung Palace في وسط Seoul. وقد حُفظت واجهته، التي تعود إلى محكمة شُيّدت عام 1928 على طراز عصر النهضة، لتكون مدخلًا إلى جناح عرض حديث أُضيف عام 2002. ومنذ افتتاحه عام 1988، نما SeMA ليصبح المؤسسة الرائدة في المدينة للفن المعاصر، ويقدّم معارض كبرى للفن الكوري والعالمي موزعة على ثلاثة طوابق للعرض وقاعة في الطابق السفلي. وتحظى واجهة المحكمة السابقة المقوّسة للمبنى بمكانة تراثية، إذ صُنّفت عام 2006 ضمن الممتلكات الثقافية لمدينة Seoul تحت الرقم 237.
