افتُتح Museo Nacional del Prado عام 1819 على جادة Paseo del Prado، ويحتضن المجموعة الوطنية الإسبانية للرسم والنحت الأوروبيين من القرن الثاني عشر وحتى أوائل القرن العشرين. تضم مقتنياته الإسبانية التي لا نظير لها روائع بارزة مثل Las Meninas لـ Velázquez، ومجموعة Black Paintings لـ Goya، وأعظم تشكيلة لأعمال Bosch في العالم، إلى جانب أعمال خالدة بريشة Titian وRubens وEl Greco. وإلى جانب متحفي Reina Sofía وThyssen-Bornemisza المجاورين، يشكل هذا الصرح الركيزة الأساسية لـ «المثلث الذهبي للفنون» في Madrid.
