بُني Gibson House بين عامي 1859 و1860 وفق تصاميم Edward Clarke Cabot، وكان من أوائل المنازل التي شُيّدت على الأراضي المستصلحة حديثاً في حي Back Bay، وهو منزل متلاصق مستوحى من طراز عصر النهضة الإيطالي ومشيد من الحجر الرملي البني والآجر الأحمر. تعاقبت ثلاثة أجيال من عائلة Gibson ومساعدي منزلهم على الإقامة في 137 Beacon Street بين عامي 1859 و1954؛ وأوصى آخرهم، Charles Hammond Gibson Jr.‎، بتحويل المنزل ومحتوياته إلى متحف افتُتح رسمياً عام 1957. والنتيجة تصميم داخلي فيكتوري نادر الاكتمال يمتد عبر خمسة طوابق، حاملاً ورق الجدران الأصلي والمنسوجات والأثاث ومقتنيات العائلة في أماكنها الأصلية. صُنّف الموقع كمعلم بارز في بوسطن (Boston Landmark) عام 1992 ومعلماً تاريخياً وطنياً (National Historic Landmark) عام 2001، ولا يمكن زيارته إلا عبر الجولات المصحوبة بمرشدين.
