تأسس Museum für Naturkunde عام 1810 ويشغل منذ عام 1889 مبنى تاريخياً فخماً في Invalidenstraße، ويُعد واحداً من أهم متاحف التاريخ الطبيعي في العالم ومعهد أبحاث تابع لجمعية Leibniz يضم نحو 30 مليون قطعة ضمن مجموعاته. تتصدر قاعة الديناصورات في المتحف أحفورة Giraffatitan brancai، وهو أطول هيكل عظمي مركب لديناصور في العالم، إلى جانب أكثر نماذج الـ Archaeopteryx اكتمالاً على الإطلاق. وإلى جانب قسم الديناصورات، يمكن للزوار استكشاف Wet Collection التي تحوي مليون عينة محفوظة في الإيثانول، وتأمل المعادن والنيازك، ومشاهدة الباحثين أثناء رقمنة الحشرات في بث حي ومباشر داخل صالات العرض.
