يقع المقر الرئيسي لـ Museu d'Història de Barcelona (MUHBA) في Plaça del Rei، وهو النواة التي تأسس حولها المتحف منذ عام 1943، ضمن مجمّع أثري مهيب من العصور الوسطى في الحي القوطي. وتحت الأرض، يتجوّل الزوار في شوارع Barcino الرومانية بمحاذاة سور المدينة، مروراً بورشٍ مثل مغسلة ومصبغة تعودان إلى القرن الثاني، ومصنع لتمليح الأسماك، ومعمل لإنتاج النبيذ، فضلاً عن بقايا المجمّع الأسقفي المسيحي المبكر. أما فوق الأرض، فتضم الزيارة Palau Reial Major وSaló del Tinell العائد إلى القرن الرابع عشر، وChapel of Santa Àgata بما فيها من مذبح رسمه Jaume Huguet، فيما تحتضن Casa Padellàs القوطية معرضاً تركيبياً بعنوان 'Barcelona Flashback'. ويدير MUHBA أيضاً شبكة من المواقع التراثية الأخرى في أنحاء المدينة، منها Temple of Augustus وEl Call وRefugi 307 air-raid shelter وتحـصينات Turó de la Rovira وEl Born.
