博物馆于2016年在两国地区开馆,葛饰北斋一生大部分时间都生活于此。馆内收藏了这位艺术家的绘画、素描、木版画及个人遗物,共计1800余件。建筑由普利兹克奖得主、建筑师妹岛和世设计,采用富有棱角的镜面外墙。四楼常设展厅“AURORA”通过等身高清复制品及复原的画室,梳理北斋的生平与创作技法;特别展则轮番展出馆藏原作。
