On the poster, two fumiko imanos sit down to spaghetti in a Paris hotel room. She made it in 2021 in quarantine at Le Bristol, pasting herself in a second time as her own fictional twin.

Six artists share the 2F gallery, and the four from China are showing in a Japanese public museum for the first time. You go from Murakoshi Toshiya's black-and-white Fukushima landscapes, shot before and after 2011, to Luo Yang's colour portraits of young people in China and the Asian diaspora, two films from Wang Tuo's Northeast Tetralogy, and Jiang Pengyi's prints of firefly light recorded onto film without a camera. Tokyo's firefly season ends with the rainy season; in Ebisu it lasts until 17 January.

ArtReview's Taro Nettleton found the curators' promised resonances "a bit blah", but said the works, seen one by one, "offer something for most". Tickets are ¥900, bookable online by time slot. Thursdays and Fridays run to 20:00, and 2 and 3 January are free.

看点

  • our first dinner spaghetti/paris/2021

Look for imano and her collaged fictional twin eating spaghetti in their quarantine hotel room, a photomontage from her le fumistol series and the show's poster image.

  • Jiang Pengyi's Dark Addiction

Prints made without a camera, from firefly bioluminescence traced straight onto film, which ArtReview says look surprisingly like Abstract Expressionist paintings.

  • Luo Yang's Girls, Youth and Diaspora Birds

Colour portraits of alt, often tattooed young people that ArtReview reckons will please fans of i-D and FRUiTS, plus Asian emigrants living in Europe.

  • Murakoshi Toshiya's Fukushima

Gelatin silver prints of his home prefecture's landscapes, shot from 2006 and across Fukushima since the 2011 disaster, which ArtReview calls immaculate.

  • Sui Taca's Odes

Landscapes of the Yellow River plains described in the Book of Odes, China's oldest poetry anthology, a series also held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

可跳过,如果

You want a tightly argued theme: ArtReview's critic found few links between the six beyond nationality.
