Założone w 1961 roku pod hasłem „Art in Life” Suntory Museum of Art posiada około 3000 dzieł sztuki japońskiej – wyrobów z laki, ceramiki, szkła, tkanin barwionych oraz obrazów – w tym jeden Skarb Narodowy, a także liczne Dobra Kultury o Szczególnym Znaczeniu i Ważne Obiekty Artystyczne. Od 2007 roku mieści się na trzecim piętrze Tokyo Midtown Galleria w dzielnicy Roppongi, w przestrzeni zaprojektowanej przez Kengo Kumę; wcześniej jego siedziby znajdowały się w Marunouchi i Akasace. Po remoncie muzeum ponownie otwarto w 2020 roku. Zamiast stałej ekspozycji muzeum prezentuje zmienny program tematycznych wystaw czasowych, przygotowywanych na podstawie własnych zbiorów oraz dzieł wypożyczonych z innych kolekcji.
