SOMPO Museum of Art mieści się w charakterystycznym budynku o giętej, stalowej elewacji, u podnóża wieżowca siedziby Sompo Japan w Nishi-Shinjuku. Początkiem kolekcji był podarowany w 1978 roku zbiór dzieł japońskiego malarza olejnego Seijiego Togo; dziś liczy ona około 640 prac, a jej najważniejszym dziełem są „Słoneczniki” Vincenta van Gogha (1888), zakupione na rekordowej aukcji Christie’s w 1987 roku. W muzeum znajdują się także prace Gauguina, Cézanne’a, Renoira i Grandma Moses, a także zmienny program ważnych wystaw prezentujących dzieła wypożyczone z innych kolekcji.
