Francuskie narodowe muzeum średniowiecza zajmuje niezwykłe połączenie budowli: gallo-rzymskich Thermes de Cluny, z ich imponującym frigidarium z I wieku, oraz płomienistego gotyku Hôtel de Cluny. Kolekcja licząca około 23 000 średniowiecznych obiektów obejmuje gobeliny, witraże, kości słoniowe, rzeźby i wyroby złotnicze. Bezsprzeczną gwiazdą zbiorów jest sześcioczęściowy cykl gobelinów Dama z jednorożcem, jedno z największych arcydzieł sztuki europejskiej.
