Muzeum morskie w Barcelonie mieści się w Drassanes Reials – średniowiecznych Królewskich Stoczniach, których budowę rozpoczęto w XIII wieku i które uchodzą za największe i najlepiej zachowane średniowieczne stocznie na świecie. Pod ich gotyckimi arkadami wystawy stałe przedstawiają śródziemnomorskie galery, wrak XIV-wiecznego statku handlowego oraz trzy stulecia katalońskiej żeglugi. Ich centralnym punktem jest pełnowymiarowa replika galery królewskiej.
