Fondato sulla collezione dell’imprenditore Nezu Kaichirō, il Nezu Museum espone arte giapponese e dell’Asia orientale premoderna dal 1941. L’edificio del 2009, progettato dall’architetto Kengo Kuma, avvolge un’ampia galleria a due piani, sormontata da un largo tetto di tegole, attorno a un percorso d’accesso fiancheggiato da bambù. La collezione comprende oltre 7.400 opere, tra cui sette Tesori nazionali, inclusi i paraventi pieghevoli «Irises» di Ogata Kōrin, oltre a bronzi cinesi, ceramiche, calligrafie e oggetti in lacca. Anche il giardino giapponese del museo, esteso su 17.000 m² e punteggiato di stagni, case da tè e lanterne di pietra, merita una visita.
