Fondato dal pittore Antoni Tàpies nel 1984 e oggi noto come Museu Tàpies, conserva una delle collezioni più complete delle sue opere, in gran parte donate da Antoni e Teresa Tàpies. Il museo ha aperto nel 1990 nell’ex casa editrice Montaner y Simón (1880-82), uno dei primi edifici modernisti di Lluís Domènech i Montaner e il primo dell’Eixample a introdurre mattoni a vista e ferro nel centro della città. Tàpies ne coronò la facciata con la sua intricata scultura in filo metallico Núvol i cadira (Cloud and Chair). Oltre alle esposizioni temporanee dedicate all’opera di Tàpies, il museo propone mostre di arte contemporanea e conserva una biblioteca d’arte specialistica sugli scaffali originali della casa editrice.
