Baek Jaewon and Oh Serin combine metal, clay, concrete and plastic to show how objects change through hiding, adding and accumulating, in the Show Window Gallery.
In the Greek story behind this show, a woman traced her departing lover's shadow on a wall, and the potter Butades pressed clay into the outline to keep his face. The outline stayed, but it can't tell you who he was. It's the oldest way of keeping an ex's face, long before the profile picture you still haven't deleted.
Two makers from the Sindang Creative Arcade residency combine materials that rarely share a piece: metal, clay, concrete, plastic. Baek Jaewon buries metal scraps in concrete and breaks the surface open, or chains metal units into outlines with parts hidden. Oh Serin shapes figures in clay and piles discarded objects and traces of nature on top. You look into cracked concrete for what was buried, and at clay for what was added.
It's a two-artist display in the Show Window Gallery, on the ground floor of Exhibition Building 3, from a programme where craft artists propose their own shows. Closed Mondays, open until 21:00 on Fridays.
