Louisiana Museum of Modern Art · Humlebæk
Confessional, raw and tender: Tracey Emin uses the female body to explore passion, trauma, pain and healing. Organised by Tate Modern, London.
Figures struggle across the canvases, couples meet and separate, and words sit beside bodies as though thought had turned physical. These are the paintings Tracey Emin has made since 2020, when she underwent extensive surgery for cancer. Louisiana says the show focuses on her lifelong commitment to painting and includes a number of her most recent works.
Around them sit almost 40 years of painting, drawing, sculpture, textile, film and installation, with works never shown before. Metal magazine reports that it is organised by theme rather than chronology, so past and present run into each other. Louisiana's own text names rape, abortion and very serious illness among its subjects, alongside courage and joy.
Entry is included in the museum ticket (DKK 145). Louisiana is open until 22:00 Tuesday to Friday, 11:00 to 18:00 at weekends, and closed on Mondays.

The recent paintings
Figures struggle across canvases, couples meet and separate, and interiors become psychological spaces, with words written beside the bodies.
Works never shown before
Louisiana says the show includes pieces that have not been presented to the public until now.
You would rather avoid frank work on rape, abortion and serious illness.
